It’s That Time Again…

In Green Turtle Cay and the rest of the Bahamas, it’s the least wonderful time of the year — hurricane season. And while the season has been fairly unremarkable to date, our Bahamian family and friends are now boarding up and battening down as they prepare for tropical storm Erika.

Though Erika has been downgraded from a hurricane, and the latest forecast shows her passing west of the Bahamas, storms like these are anything but predictable. They can intensify or shift direction within hours.

Knowing the destruction and death that Erika has already wrought, nobody in or near this storm’s path can afford to rest easy until it has passed and, ultimately, dissipated.

As these images show, although Erika is at least a day or two away, the Abaco mainland and cays are already experiencing some unusual and ominous weather.

If you’re anywhere near the path of this storm, please be prepared, and stay safe. Let’s hope Erika will complete her journey without further injury or damage.

Thanks to Stacey Sawyer of Green Turtle Cay for allowing me to share these photos with you.

Stacey, thanks for the photos that warn the observant. And for the report, Amanda. I pray that Erika will dissipate…

Hi, Dennis. Yes, those would be scary for a dog! And people, too. 🙂 Thanks for touching base.
